DR VERENA SCHEPERS

is partner at SAMP SCHILLING and advises national and international clients comprehensively in all areas of real estate and property law. Her main areas of expertise include property development projects, commercial tenancy law, construction-related neighbouring issues and litigation.

Verena has many years of expertise in refurbishment and new construction projects, property development projects and property-related disputes. Clients also value her experience in particular in areas of conflict under tenancy law and building contracts. A particular focus of her advisory work is the refurbishment and modernisation of existing buildings, including the associated strategic advice, e.g. in rented residential property.

Her clients include real estate developers, investors, landlords, portfolio holders and family offices.

Verena has worked in well-known national commercial law firms in Berlin. She publishes regularly in her areas of specialisation and she regularly comments for the renowned publishing house C.H.Beck in the Beck-Online Großkommentar zum Zivilrecht. She is also a member of the specialist lawyers’ committee for tenancy and residential property law at the Berlin Bar Association.

Verena studied law in Berlin and Saarbrücken, she holds a French University Titel in laws, and she was admitted to the bar in 2010. She speaks German, English and French.

EXPERIENCE

  • Advising a project developer on the conclusion of construction contracts for a building project with around 100 flats and 100 parking spaces as well as on the sale in a forward deal to an institutional investor *.
  • Support and litigation for a nationwide project developer in disputes over defects with an ensemble of 5 condominium owners’ associations after completion of the construction project, including litigation *
  • Conclusion of a main commercial lease agreement as part of a project development for an institutional end user for its new headquarters in Berlin *
  • Conclusion of neighbourhood agreements for nationwide project developers prior to the demolition of several vacant existing properties in the city centre of Berlin, together with advice on new construction (asset office complex), including advice on civil engineering and structural engineering issues during construction*
  • Advising an investor on the reorganisation of land and sale of partially developed areas by way of an asset deal *
  • Advising a family office on the refurbishment of an existing property in use and partially occupied, including the associated litigation activities on residential tenancy law disputes, advice on property issues and neighbouring issues under public law*
  • Strategic advice to a property developer on its demolition and new construction activities to avoid litigation*
  • Support for a portfolio holder in the reorganisation and reassignment of land charges*
